Then Jesus said, "Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (NLT)
Intercessory Prayer
"Let's go!"
We were ready to drive our children to a grassy park, about half an hour away. My husband was waiting in the car with our three little children.
As I reached for my purse and prepared to leave the house, I whispered a short prayer. This was common for me, but suddenly I felt a strange hesitancy. I stopped and whispered a prayer again. Still the hesitancy continued. Again I prayed but this time the hesitancy was very strong. I felt the gentle, safe presence of the Holy Spirit and my prayer changed. It was a strong prayer of intercession that followed. Then there was peace.
I walked to the car.
We drove for several kilometres down the beautiful winding country road. It meandered through hills and was bordered by thick leafy trees.
The children were enjoying the scenery and were chattering happily.
The road turned a corner. Suddenly, without warning, on our side of the road, came a vehicle. It was severing out of control and heading straight for us! My husband served and the truck served. The truck lost control and drove off the road and into the bush. Immediately my husband slammed on the brakes and pulled the car safely off the road. In the rear view mirror we saw the truck hit and sever a telephone pole. The pole then crashed down on the truck.
My husband jumped out of our car and ran toward the man in the truck. He saw movement in the truck.
"Are you okay?" He called.
The dazed driver looked up at him as he forced open the door of his truck and crawled out. We could smell alcohol on his breath.
"Yes", he answered as he felt his forehead. A thin trickle of blood dripped down his face.
We were safe. He was unharmed.
God intervened in what would have been a deadly head on collision.
Yes, our times are in His hands. Today your time is in God's hands. What happens today is not outside of God's knowledge. The Lord encourages us to pray at all times. Have you prayed today?
Pray at all times for the Bible tells us:
Never stop praying. (1 Thes.5: 17)
The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you
as you come and go, both now and forever. (Ps. 121:7&8)
