A cup of coffee

It was a cold, wintry day when we drove our son to his hockey tournament.  We parked our vehicle and entered the skating arena.
My husband walked toward the bleachers while our son hoisted his hockey gear over his shoulder and sauntered into the change room.
I was grateful to be in the sheltered building but I wanted to warm up with a fresh, hot cup of coffee.  So, I walked over to the man of my dreams, (my husband) and snuggled into his side.  Lovingly I whispered in his ear, "if you were to offer me a cup of coffee, I wouldn't say no".
How strange it was.  Normally he would turn to me with a smile and be quick to answer with an enthusiastic, "yes".  But this time, he just stood still.  Silent.  No response.  Finally I looked up at his face.  I was shocked.  Horrified! There, looking back at me was another man!  I had just innocently propositioned a stranger!
What happened?  Well, unknown to me, when we entered the skating arena, my husband had gone to the men's room.  Another man of the same size, shape, and wearing exactly the same make and colour of coat and jeans was in the same area of the arena. He stood with his back to me.  I mistook him for my husband.
Quickly I withdrew my arm and fumbled an explanation with an apology.
Be sure whom you ask to give you a drink.
When you are spiritually thirsty, be sure it is Jesus whom you ask to refresh you.  The things of this world may look the same, but they will not satisfy your soul.

Jesus replied, "If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask Me, and I would give you living water."  John 4:10
