Then Jesus said, "Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (NLT)
Deliverance from or through
The flu had swept through our house like a whirlwind leaving a trail of debris. Each of our three children and my husband had their portion of it. I watched and cared for each one, seeing the damage it caused and how long it lasted. Then the inevitable happened: it found me. Soon I was hanging my head over the toilet bowl thinking, "This is it. I've seen the course this bug takes. I'm not going to be able to do anything for the next week." Then my thoughts changed as I considered the healing ability of the LORD. Why not talk to the Healer about it?
Sincerely I shared my concerns with Jesus. "Lord, you have helped lots of people. I read that you healed the sick and raised the dead. Lord, the flu isn't necessarily a deadly thing, but it is an illness. It will make it so that I can't work and properly care for my family. Please, Lord, would You help me by healing me?"
It was amazing. Immediately I felt well. I was healthy. Jesus had healed me.
Now I know that the flu can be a small thing on the list of diseases. I also have experienced other illnesses, which have been harsher, and the Lord has chosen not to immediately deliver me from them, but He has been with me through them. Healing has come and with it God has build up my body's immunity.
This experience has made me aware that He cares not only about our big problems but He also cares about all of our concerns. Either He will deliver us from our problems or He will carry us through them.
Today, God's help is available to you. He can deliver you from a situation or He can give you strength to go through it. Hold onto His hand.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you (1Peter 5:7)
